What is The Bit Theater?
The Bit was founded in 2021 out of our owners’ desire to take a different approach to improv training and performing. Although we’re still babies in the comedy world, in our short life we’ve expanded our offerings far beyond just improv, and we hope to continually grow and nurture the comedy community in the Chicagoland area. We have a diverse and welcoming community of wonderful new talent both onstage and off. The Bit offers improv and sketch comedy shows, classes, corporate training, and private events!
Why Improv?
Hello,
We’re Kelsey and Michael, the owners of The Bit.
Improv literally changed our lives for the better. We found each other through improv, and we have become better people by practicing the collaboration, communication, and joy that improv requires. The world is in a state of divisiveness, anger, isolation, and distrust. Improv expects better of us. It teaches us to collaborate, spread joy, connect, and trust one another. If every person on the planet thought like an improviser, we’d live in a better place. So, that’s our goal. To teach improv to every person on the planet and change the world for the better.
Every choice we make for the theater is in service of that goal, and we’re excited to share that mission with you. We want to grow our community by uniting performers, students, and audience members and making sure we’re all part of the process of creating improv. Our classes, workshops, and shows for all ages are in furtherance of our goal.
